This was during an “Education Day” at the Residence of the High Commissioner, yesterday, November 18, 2025.
The first edition of the British Week is currently ongoing in Yaounde on the theme: “Connect, Collaborate and Celebrate.” The week, which began on November 17, ends tomorrow with the aim of celebrating the enduring partnership between the United Kingdom (UK) and Cameroon. Yesterday was themed: “Education Day” in which the organiser showcased UK educational qualifications while celebrating UK alumni in Cameroon.
The British High Commissioner to Cameroon, Matt Woods, said it was a delight to celebrate King Charles’ birthday with a week-long programme of events which connect, collaborate and celebrate the strong ties between the UK and Cameroon. Events, he revealed, showcase the depth of partnership between his country and Cameroon from climate change and wildfire conservation in the Congo Basin, to education and cultural exchange. The programme will conclude tomorrow with the King’s birthday party. The event will feature prominent British companies operating in Cameroon. The Country Director of the British Council in Cameroon, Caroline Ndifor said the “Education Day” is multifaceted, reflecting on the overarching theme of connecting, collaborating, and celebrating. She said it was a day to honour the strong ties between the UK and Cameroon, spotlighting alumni who have studied, worked, or collaborated with UK institutions. The event gathered representatives from the higher education sector, secondary schools, and the teaching sector to share their work and forge new partnerships.
