Cameroon-United States: Continued Engagement

The Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu, yesterday November 20, 2025 granted an audience to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the United States in charge of Population, Refugees and Migration, Christian Jové Ehrhardt. The US official is visiting Cameroon within the framework of intensifying bilateral ties and continuing shared engagements in various fields. He leads a delegation from Washington DC and is accompanied by some officials of the White House. In his words to the press after the in-camera meeting, the US official said he is in the country to meet with the Minister for Foreign Affairs so as to discuss the continued collaboration between the two nations. “The United States and Cameroon have been friends for many years and will continue to be friends. We discussed various areas of mutual cooperation and we look forward to continuing our engagement with Cameroon,” Christian Jové Ehrhardt told reporters. He added that the areas of common interest examined during the meeting included humanitarian, health and security cooperation, aspects which he says have been the main pillars of bilateral relations between Cameroon and the United States for several years.
