Far North Region: Double Suicide Attack Thwarted in Amtchali

Below is a press release from the Minister of Communication.

“The Minister of Communication hereby informs national and international public opinion that a double suicide attack was thwarted on Monday, April 3, 2017 in the locality of AMTCHALI near Mora, in the Mayo Sava Division, Far North Region.
At about 6:45 am, members of the local vigilante committee intercepted two girls, aged about 12 and 15, suspected of carrying explosive charges.
When they were ordered to lift their arms, the two suspects categorically refused to obey, and this led the members of the vigilante committee to immediately alert the police officers stationed nearby.
When they saw the police officers, one of the two young suicide bombers, panic-stricken, immediately activated her explosive charge to commit suicide, killing at the same time the second suicide bomber.
No damage or casualties were recorded among our populations.
On behalf of the Government, the Minister of Communication hails the perfect synergy between the Administrative Authorities, the Defense and Security Forces, the Vigilante Committees and, in general, all the populations.
