Digital Transformation : Cameroon Partners With Ethiopia

A partnership agreement was signed yesterday December 4 between CAMTEL and ETHIO TELECOM at the Star Building in the presence of the Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Ngute.
As a means of expanding its wireless connection in the country, Cameroon Telecommunications (CAMTEL), yesterday December 4, 2025 entered a partnership agreement with the Ethiopian Telecommunication (ETHIO TELECOM). This was during a working session chaired by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute. The General Manager of CMATEL, Judith Yah Sunday represented her establishment while the Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Telecommunication, Frehiwot Tamiru stood for the institution. The vision is to digitally transform CAMTEL and also impact the Cameroonian government through various technology initiatives. Through the partnership, experience will be combined, together with present and future opportunities and resources to empower communities, CAMTEL and the government so as to boost digital productivity and efficiency, and enable a more affordable access to digital services. Making blue money a reality in Cameroon is equally considered.
Expressing appreciation for the partnership, the Chief Executive Officer said they will be deploring and bringing from Ethiopia their experience so as to improve mobile money applications notably through Blue money, a project in the pipeline and also expand CAMTEL’s wireless infrastructure so as to ensure that everyone is connected and digitally empowered. “There are strategic initiatives that cover mobile money, expansion of wireless infrastructure, digital transformation of CAMTEL and Cameroon at large. We believe that this partnership will bring fruits to the digital imitative,” she stated. According to the Ethiopian telecommunications expert, the main reason for engaging in the partnership stems from the fact that both CAMTEL and ETHIO TELECOM have a common vision of fully empowering their nations digitally.
