Terrorism : Two Cameroonians Found Guilty

A United States federal jury has found Lah Langmi Nestor and Francis Chenyi, guilty on counts related to terrorism, conspiracy, weapons trafficking and kidnapping in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon.

The verdict of a United States federal jury of the District Court for the Western District of Missouri, Western Division has found two Cameroonians guilty of promoting terrorism and social unrest in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon. The two Cameroonians are Lah Langmi Nestor and Francis Chenyi. Information provided to Cameroon Tribune indicates that the defendants were found guilty of the crimes of conspiracy to provide material support or resources to separatist fighters of the aforementioned regions, conspiracy to launder monetary instruments, providing or attempting to provide material support or resources and conspiracy to commit international money laundering. The plaintiff, Barrister Emmanuel Nsahlai of the Nsahlai Law Firm, says these verdicts confirm the evidence showing that they financed and directed violent attacks in Cameroon from the United States.
The remarks of the plaintiff after the verdict notes that it marks a major breakthrough in the international legal effort to hold separatist fighters or their promoters accountable for their crimes against civilians. This adds to the ongoing judicial efforts to bring to book Cameroonians residing out of the country but financing terrorism activities in the restive North West and South West Regions.  Thus far, more than 30 separatist leaders have been brought to justice in the United States, and investigations underway in other countries in Europe, South Africa, Norway amongst others. The judicial procedures are either initiated by Cameroonians or the legal departments of the host countries.&nb...
