Cultural Parade : Living Together Celebrated

The huge crowd that thronged the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium yesterday had the opportunity to travel through the country’s four cultural zones via dance and demonstration.

An exhibition that showed Cameroon is a heaven of peace and living together was one of the main attractions of the cultural parade during the closing ceremony of the 2025 sports season. Spectators, who came in numbers yesterday at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium had the opportunity to feel and understand the realities of the four cultural zones of the country: Sudano-Sahelian, Fang-Betsi, Sawa, and Grassfield. The on-pitch presentation resembled a village setting, with dancers emerging from makeshift huts representing each cultural zone. In the middle stood the Reunification Monument, a symbol of the unity of the Cameroonian people. Each group took turns under music peculiar to its cultural zone to demonstrate its dance steps. They also presented daily activities such as farming, fishing, and hunting, among others. To exhibit unity, an “attack” was staged by some men in black, but what stood out was its quick neutralization, thanks to the unity of the people and a shield-bearing team protecting the motherland.
The sporting aspect was not left out. A colourful caravan appeared after the cultural display in a positive ambiance to show how the sports movement is faring and how the spirit of sportsmanship exists among the different disciplines. The Cup of Cameroon finalists were also honoured with makeshift mascots: incarnating the animals they represent (Dove and Panther)....
