Precious Esong Sone, is a young Cameroonian-born researcher who is making waves in the global healthcare community with his ground-breaking work on Artificial Intelligence (AI) driven innovations. From his roots in Buea in the South West Region to his current role as a leading voice in healthcare technology in the Vidant Hospital; ECU Health Medical Centre (Greenville) Eastern North Carolina, Sone's journey is an inspiring tale of passion, perseverance, and purpose. 
At 27, Precious Esong Sone has earned international recognition for his ground-breaking research on integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into hospital settings, combining innovation with patient-centred care. Contrary to the prevalent notion that AI is a futuristic and costly endeavour, Sone highlights its practical applications, such as streamlining patient discharges and bolstering safety protocols. Most recently, he was honoured with the 2025 Excellence in Technology Innovation Award at the ICT4AFRICA Summit, organised by the ICT University Foundation, a US-registered non-profit organisation. This prestigious accolade recognises his pioneering work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, behavioural health, and diabetes care. 
A proud alumnus of Cameroon's education system, Sone holds dual bachelor's degrees from the Pan-African Institute for Development in Buea and has recently graduated with an MBA in Healthcare Management from East Carolina University in the United States.
