Fight Against Corruption : Actions To Be Intensified

Officials and staff of the National Anti-Corruption Commission took the commitment yesterday during the presentation of New Year wishes to the Chairman, Rev.Dr. Dieudonné Massi Gams.
Priority actions of the National Anti-Corruption Commission for 2026 centre on improving actions geared at combating corruption in the society. While receiving New Year wishes yesterday February 2, 2026 from staff and institutions collaborating with CONAC, the Chairman, Rev. Dr. Dieudonné Massi Gams said multiplying investigations based on complaints lodged with them, increasing sensitisation campaigns on the importance of integrity, stepping up the rapid intervention initiative and hosting the 16th Commonwealth Regional Conference of Heads of Anti-Corruption Agencies in Africa, will be of focus throughout 2026.
The Chairman also said the regional plan of action for the fight against corruption will be enhanced while the Ministerial plan will be implemented. With regards to some of the preoccupations presented by the Permanent Secretary, such as the need to construct a head office and acquire vehicles for mobility given that the current fleet is obsolete, he said a piece of land of about 3,000 m2 has already been acquired and service cars purchased which have effectively arrived and are at the administrative garage. To the Chairman, with greater collaboration and synergy, the institution can do more and surpass the statistics of achievements for 2025 presented by the Permanent Secretary. This, he explained, will be meeting up with the commitment of the President of the Republic, Paul Biya, who during his swearing-in ceremony said the fight against corruption will be intensified. And in line with promoting exemplary behaviour, three staff of CONAC were sanctioned for being implicated in corruption-related practices. Rev. Dr. Dieudonné Massi Gams used the opportunity to express gratitude to the Delegate General for National Security and the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defence in charge of the National Gendarmerie for the timely deployment of officers to facilitate rapid intervention and in-depth investigations in the fight against corruption.
