14th WTO Ministerial Conference : Cameroon’s Preparations Rated Satisfactory

An inspection mission led by the Director, Council and Trade Negotiations Committee Division of the Organisation was received by the Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Ngute yesterday.
Less than two months to the holding of the 14th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Cameroon is fine-turning its logistics preparations, with a particular attention to infrastructure, security and communication. Within the framework of ensuring that principles and standards are respected, an inspection mission, led by the Director, Council and Trade Negotiations Committee Division of the Organisation, Santiago Wills, visited these various hosting and lodging facilities of the conference to ascertain the country’s preparedness. It is the fifth preparatory mission of the Organisation to visit Cameroon. After their evaluation, they held a working session with the Prime Minister Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute yesterday February 4, 2026 to present their observations.
And on a global note, they are satisfied with the evolution of work by different companies and contractors responsible for refurbishing works. This is ascertained by the delegation leader to the press, after the working session with the Prime Minister. “We have been working very closely with the Prime Minister’s team, but also with the whole task force that he set up for the Ministerial Conference on a variety of issues like accommodation and infrastructure such as the Yaounde Conference Centre for hosting the Ministerial Conference, security and communication. We have been reassured that the work is being done. We are leaving quite happy with the developments,” he stated. After visiting the Yaounde Conference Centre and Mont Febe Hotel, Santiago Wills said the work done thus far is impressive and various teams are working day and night to meet deadlines. The delegation leader, who doubles as the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Columbia to the World Trade Organisation, said he is proud of both the public and private companies working at the different sites to ensure the refurbishment requirements of WTO as per the host...
