Cameroon-Senegal Fifth Joint Commission : Parties Follow-up On Recommendations

At the behest of the Minister of External Relations, Mbella Mbella, the Secretary General Oumarou Chinmoun, received in audience the Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal to Cameroon, Malick Diouf, on February 2, 2026. Discussions during the audience focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Cameroon and Senegal, as well as on the follow-up to the recommendations of the fifth session of the Cameroon-Senegal Joint Commission, held at the end of July 2025. Indeed, the aforementioned meeting was held in Yaounde and co-chaired by Minister Mbella Mbella and Senegal’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yassine Fall, resulting in the signing of nine bilateral agreements. Basically, the agreements seek to revamp economic, diplomatic and cultural cooperation between the two African nations. As such, the February 2 audience at the Ministry of External Relations was to take stock on the implementation of these recommendations, six months later.   
Although specific sectors were not publicly detailed, cooperation between Cameroon and Senegal traditionally spans areas such as trade, education, culture, diplomacy, and regional security. Exchanges thus reflected a shared ambition to broaden this partnership, especially faced with evolving regional and global realities.
During discussion which the two parties analysed prospects for deepening this cooperation in several areas of common interest, they emphasized on the importance of ensuring that bilateral cooperation delivers tangible benefits to citizens of both countries.
