Potable Water : Government Broadens Access

Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute, yesterday received in audience the Executive Chairman of Biwater International Ltd, a potential partner in large-scale water and wastewater treatment.
In the near future, 13 towns across the regions will be connected to a modern water supply system, with the objective of improving access to portable water by the population. The project will be executed by Biwater International Limited (a British company specialised in providing large-scale water and wastewater treatment solutions), in collaboration with the Cameroon Water Utilities Corporation (CAMWATER). To this effect, the Prime Minister Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute yesterday February 4, 2026 received the Executive Chairman of Biwater International Limited, Sir Adrian Edwin White, accompanied by the General Manager of CAMWATER, Blaise Moussa.
After the audience with the Head of Government, he expressed satisfaction to authorities for fast-tracking and making water supply to the 13 localities in towns a high priority. Basically, they will focus on improving the source of water supply, pipe works (connectivity), adequate storage and considerable standby generation to guarantee water supply to the 13 localities concerned. The first phase targets localities like Bertoua, Minta, Dibang, Bokito, Betare-Oya, Bogongo, Ngambe Tika, and Matomb. The second phase will concern Ayos, Eseka, Dizangue and Mudemba, amongst others. He said they are ready to commence work given that technical and cooperate issues have already been handled. “It just requires legal and financial aspects to be finished which is a statutory duty and then we will start on the site. We will start a week after the loan agreement is effective,” Sir Adrian White told reporters.
