South West Cultural Festival: Celebrating Heritage With Colour, Unity

Asea of colour, music and jubilant faces defined the ambiance at the 2nd edition of the South West Cultural Festival, held under the theme: “Showcasing Cultural Identity and Consolidating Peace and Entrepreneurial Consciousness.” Thousands gathered as the three-day celebration transformed Buea into a vibrant cultural village where tradition blended seamlessly with entertainment. Friday night set the tone with a thrilling concert featuring local artistes, sons and daughters of the South West, who delivered electrifying performances to an enthusiastic crowd. “Seeing our own artists headline this stage is inspiring,” said one excited youth. “It shows the talent we have as a region.” Also featuring at the festival were exhibitions of various traditional dishes, traditional regalia, beaded jewellery, outfits made from raffia and the Eyasu fabric, and other cultural artifacts, offering visitors a rich sensory experience of the South West’s heritage. The carnival, which followed on Saturday, was a majestic display of unity and cultural pride.
