Vulnerable People: First Lady Champions Inclusive Education Course

A partnership agreement was signed between the Ministries of Higher Education, Women’s Empowerment and State Universities on Friday March 6, 2026
Alandmark partnership agreement has been signed between the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and the Family with State Universities, aiming to address societal issues by harnessing education to support vulnerable groups, including women, youth, and individuals with disabilities. The event, held under the patronage of the First Lady, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Education and Social Inclusion, follows the Head of State's emphasis on supporting these groups in his inaugural speech for his new term of office, wherein he stressed support for women and young people. The partnership, initiated by the First Lady, Chantal Biya, and formalised on March 6, 2026, aims to establish psychological support services, counselling units, research programmes, and educational curricula focused on safeguarding women and vulnerable individuals, whilst fostering inclusive education and promoting human values. The Minister of Higher Education, Jacques Fame Ndongo, the Minister of Women's Empowerment and the Family, Prof. Marie Thérèse Abena Ondoa, along with Vice-Chancellors and Rectors of all State Universities, affixed their signatures to the 11- page document in the presence of a representative of the First Lady, Helen-Chantal Foe Ndi, Director of Academic Affairs and Corporation at the University of Yaounde I, and a notable delegation from the Circle of Friends of Cameroon (CERAC). At the ceremony, Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo urged universities to implement the agreement, which is expected to contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the National Development Strategy (SND30).
