Limbe: Fair Showcases Cameroon’s Tourism Potential

The three-day event at the Botanic Gardens was opened by Minister Gabriel Mbirobe on March 19 who saluted the promoter for marketing the country to the world.

Two concepts have been put at the centre of the 5th edition of the Cameroon International Tourism Fair which held in the Limbe Botanic Gardens from March 19-21, 2026. They are gastronomy and blue economy. In presenting them, Minister in charge of Tourism and Leisure, Gabriel Mbairobe, said the blue economy is a concept that advocates for the sustainable and integrated management of oceanic and coastal spaces. It encompasses coastal tourism, artisanal fishing, maritime transport and the protecting of ecosystem thereby creating jobs opportunities. Concerning gastronomy, the Ministry of Tourism and Leisure has undertaken a strategic approach in labeling and protecting Cameroon’s culinary heritage and strengthening its effectiveness of Cameroon destination. The Minister stated that the government has identified 14 traditional dishes to be protected by the World Intellectual Property Organisation. The actions aim at strengthening the reputation and profitability of research and the ancestral knowhow of norms. Also, transforming these specialties into true flagship tourism product. “Ndole marks a mile stone in 2026 by becoming the very first Cameroonian traditional intellectual property,” Minister Mbairobe said while adding that the government mission is to transform Cameroon into a global premier global destination.
