Ekondo Titi, Dikome Balue Councils: Population's Welfare Remains Priority

Mayors of the two localities made the assurance in a town hall meeting called by the Office of Public Independent Conciliator for the South West Region on April 9, 2026.

The population of Ekondo Titi and Dikome Balue have been assured by their respective mayors that there is a continuous drive to search for resources to make life better for them. In a town hall meeting on April 9, 2026, in Ekondo Titi, the locals raised a number of issues concerning their welfare. Divine Wenku from Dikome Balue expressed worry on the state of roads to Dikome Balue. He lamented that travelling to Ekondo Titi from Dikome Balue, which are two neighbouring municipalities, they have to first go to Kumba in Meme Division. He pleaded with the South West Regional Assembly to execute the promised works since 2022 on the Mundemba-Toko-Dikome Balue road. Also, he proposed to the two councils to develop a road that is behind Lobe Estate leading to Dikome Balue which is very short. The chief of Butchers, Mesibu Inusa, in Ekondo Titi complained of the modern slaughter house not yet into use, lack of water, the sheds provided for them in the markets are small.

The mayor of Dikome Balue, Nebare Victor Motuba, noted the problem of roads in his municipality which has been worsened by constant floods. To solve this, his council dedicated FCFA 70 million of their 2026 budget to build bridges. The mayor of Ekondo Titi, Utam Margaret Ndiba, pointed out the issue of sheds could have been resolved by simple dialogue if the butchers had come to her. She promised to set her town planning department at work to resolve the problem. On the slaughter house, she said, she can't work out a description of a credit card. But she promised to look into the matter.
