Limbe: FESTAC 2017 Rumbles On

 From 8 through 15 April, Limbe is vibrating to international and local rhythm

The Minister of Arts and Culture, Professor Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, has urged organisers to use the Limbe Festival of Arts and Culture to maximise peace and unity in Cameroon. He was speaking in Limbe, 8 April, 2017, as he opened this year’s Festival of Arts and Culture (FESTAC) in its fourth edition.  The coastal city of Limbe and capital of Fako Division in the South West Region is playing host to thousands of visitors and participants from all 10 Regions of Cameroon and beyond to stage shows including handicrafts, dances, customs and sketches to depict the historic slave trade that hit the city centuries before. For these, Minister Mouelle Kombi praised the initiative especially the vision bearer, Andrew Motanga Monjimba, who is the Government Delegate to Limbe City Council.
At the opening, vision bearer Andrew Motanga Monjimba, prided the FESTAC achievements in three years and augured that the event had come to stay. He used the occasion to call for school return against the backdrop of ghost schools in Anglophone Cameroon following the Teachers’ strike since 21 November, 2016. He recalled that Limbe, as a town of friendship, had always stood for an undivided Cameroon. “We have an unshakeable resolve to make Limbe FESTAC become not only a strong symbol but a leading and reference festival in Cameroon and beyond our borders”, Motanga asserted.
