Cameroon Development Corporation: Deceased Board Chair Laid To Rest

Hope Sona Ebai was buried last Saturday, April 25, 2026 after honours in Limbe and Kumba.

The fallen board chairman of the Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC), Hope Sona Ebai, has been laid to rest. He was buried on Saturday, April 25, 2026. This followed two church services organised in Limbe and Kumba to honour his legacy. Among the thousands of mourners in Limbe were the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development – Gabriel Mbairobe, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Basic Education - Dr. Asheri Kilo Fofung and South West Governor - Bernard Okalia Bilai. The preacher of the day, Rev Ngalle Simon, drew his homily from1 Cor 15: 44. He titled his message “Death remains the secret of God in Jesus Christ.” In Limbe and Kumba, thousands paid their last respect to the agricultural economist, cocoa expert and corporate manager. Tributes poured in from friends, alma mater, social groups, and religious groups pointing to how Hope Sona Ebai used his expertise to serve humanity, the church and State. Senator Nfon Ekoko Mukete IV led a delegation from the CPDM Central Committee. He talked of how the dedication of Hope Sona in the CPDM advanced the growth of their party at the grassroot. Linda Ebai, wife of the deceased, said her late husband dedicated his life in educating, providing and protecting his family as he was their mentor and companion. The General Manager of the CDC, Franklin Ngoni Njie, indicated the sociopolitical crisis in the North West and the South West Regions caused CDC to find itself in a precarious situation which resulted to the accumulation of many months of salary arrears.
