Commonwealth Regional Anti-Corruption Conference: Organising Committee Ascertains Readiness

Final touches are being done to ensure that 16th Commonwealth Regional Conference of Heads of Anti-Corruption Agencies in Africa to be hosted by Cameroon at the Yaounde Conference Centre from May 4-8, 2026 holds hitch-free. An inter- Ministerial Organising Committee was put in place and recently installed by the Chairman of CONAC. It was against this backdrop that he chaired an evaluation meeting on April 28, 2026 to see what has been done thus far and what needs to be ironed out. It emerged from the meeting that preparations are on a good footing with members of the Committee certain that the event will be memorable and impactful. With CONAC being the host institution, the Chairman noted that the legendary hospitality of Cameroon has to be brought once more to the limelight and the stay as well as participation of the delegates during the conference made unforgettable. Together with partner institutions, he noted that they are finalising preparations to ensure that delegates are well received at the airport, properly lodged, can move around with ease and in complete security and, above all, have a wonderful conference experience that goes beyond the knowledge that will be gathered from the different presentations, to include a taste of Cameroon’s rich culinary and cultural diversity. He added that they are in touch with the Commonwealth Secretariat in London and the Association of Anti- Corruption Agencies in Commonwealth Africa (AAACoA), the two main partners in the organisation of the event. In fact, a Commonwealth focal point official is already in Cameroon and working closely with the National Anti-Corruption Commission.
