Bafoussam: Workers Celebrate In pomp

It was an atmosphere of conviviality and incitement during festivities marking the 140th, International Labour Day in Bafoussam on 1 May, 2026, with some 133, public, parapublic, and private sector enterprises taking part. Celebrated under the theme, “Social Dialogue and Decent work: Factors of peace national cohesion and economic development of the company”, the celebration in Bafoussam was placed under the chairmanship of Governor Awa Fonka Augustine, who used the occasion to re-assure workers, of Government’s determination protect the socio-economic live of the nation, as well as defending good economic governance. He said the Government has engaged in social dialogue with trade union leaders, tailored towards the vulnerable population, especially the women and youths employment, which President Paul Biya promised on November 6, 2025, during his swearing-in ceremony, as important development policy, which is being implemented.
