Bamenda Urban Crossing Road: Efforts Stepped Up To Finish Work By February 2027

Rehabilitation work is greatly advancing in the 6.5 km Bamenda Urban Crossing Road project that runs from the Amour Mezam Junction- Finance Junction- Veterinary Junction passing through Ayaba Street to T-Junction-Meta Quarters- Hospital Roundabout and back through the Food Market- City Chemist Roundabout, passing through Sonac Street back to Veterinary Junction. Prime Minister Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute, launched the rehabilitation works of the World Bank sponsored Bamenda Urban Crossing road on September 17, 2025 in Bamenda and this section constitutes Lot 4 B of the Babadjou- Bamenda rehabilitation road project. After the launching, veritable works started in November 2025. As at May 14, 2026 when the team of media partners were on the field led by the North West Regional Delegate of Public Works, Nfor Cyprian Ngenge, much work had been done. The opening up of the road had gone too far. Mr Nfor Cyprian Ngenge in an interview at the end of the evaluation visit, declared that, “We are far advanced. The major drainage structures, BUNS Sarl, is almost rounding off with them. Work is ongoing in the major remaining ones at Mile 2 Nkwen Bridge and Food Market Bridge. We can say that the urban crossing works have significantly advanced relative to what we had in the previous month.” Backfilling work has either been completed or going on other drainage structures. He indicated that the construction company was proactive taking into account that works must not be halted during the ongoing raining season. “The boxed culverts that are left have already been prefabricated. So it will be easy for the them to be placed in the raining season.
