The Price Of Deceit: GCE Board Outlines Severe Penalties For 2026 Exam Malpractices

The last-minute reminders have been issued for examination candidates and officials to steer clear of any misconduct as the written part of the exams begin on June 2, 2026..

The Cameroon General Certificate of Education, GCE Board has officially moved to "war footing" against examination malpractices for the 2026 session. In a series of urgent public notices, the Board - currently overseen by Chairman Prof. Ivo Leke Tambo and a dedicated Transition Management Team (TMT) - has laid out a rigid framework designed to preserve the sanctity of Cameroon’s most prestigious academic evaluation.

Beware!
The GCE Board Transition Management Team, TMT, is led by Mrs. Ndi Bernadette Fhinwie Ntemna, Mr. Shutang Jonathan Nimumingo and Mrs. Evelyn Mesame Ngole. To combat misinformation, the Board urges the public to follow only its verified platforms for official updates on Official Website: www.camgceb.org; Facebook: @gceboardcmr; WhatsApp: GCE Board Cameroon; and Telegram/X: @gceboard_cmr

The Sanctions’ Matrix
The cornerstone of the 2026 session is a non-negotiable list of sanctions that target both traditional and modern forms of cheating. The Board has classified several offenses as "High-Level Violations," carrying a mandatory three-year ban and the cancellation of all results. The act of writing an exam for another candidate is met with a total academic freeze.
Bringing pre-written answers into the hall or swapping answer sheets is now a primary target for examiners. Any threat to the physical security of the examination environment results in immediate disqualification. Furthermore, the Board has tightened regulations on technology. The mere "use of mobile phones or communication devices" now triggers a one-year ban and total result cancellation, reflecting the rising threat of digital leakage.

The GCE Board has established the following summarized sanctions for examination malpractices:
Three-year Ban, All Results Cancelled:
•    Impersonation
•    Scripts Substitution (including bringing answers into the hall)
•    Violence
•    Disturbance

One-year Ban, All Results Cancelled:
•    Use of Mobile Phones or Communication Devices

All Results Cancelled:
•    Use of pre-prepared Materials

Subject Result Cancelled:
•    Collusion
•    Copy Work

CCTV, Cyber-Monitoring
In perhaps the most significant logistical update for the year, the Board announced that all Examination Centres are now under strict surveillance, including CCTV monitoring. This "eye-in-the-sky" approach aims to deter both candidate collusion and administrative lapses.
Beyond the physical halls, the Board has launched a Cybercrime Watch to monitor social media platforms and "Fake Result Networks." These networks often prey on candidates by offering fraudulent result upgrades or "leaked" questions. The Board’s warning is clear: offenders caught in these digital traps face not just academic ruin, but prosecution and imprisonment.

Warning Against "Middleman Culture"

A critical portion of the 2026 strategy involves de-platforming "Online Consultants" and unauthorized agents. The GCE Board has taken the rare step of explicitly stating that it does not sell question papers or result slips and has no affiliation with third-party mark-upgrade services.
Candidates are urged to ignore any "middlemen" claiming to have back-channel access to the Board’s database. Instead, the Board encourages the use of its official website, www.camgceb.org, and verified social media channels for all legitimate queries.

The Moral Mandate
The 2026 session is framed as a test of character as much as it is a test of knowledge. Adhering to its core values of "Honesty, Excellence, and Integrity," the Board’s final message to candidates is one of individual responsibility: "Your success should come from hard work - not cheating".
