Digital Communication Campaign: Over 35,000 People Reached

These are statistics from Elections Cameroon after the online sensitisation initiative on electoral operations from April 22- 30, 2026.

Within the framework of carrying out annual voter registration in accordance with Article 74 of the Electoral Code, Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) organised a digital communication campaign on “The Basics of the Annual Revision of Electoral Lists.” The said campaign took place from April 22 to 30, 2026 through the digital platforms of the elections management body as well as certain online media. The main objective was to inform, raise awareness, and educate internet users on all operations related to the annual revision of the electoral lists. At the end of the exercise, statistics from ELECAM indicate that a total of 35,672 internet users were reached by this campaign. The campaign which lasted 10 days, officials of the Communication Unit of Elections Cameroon, made it possible to ensure significant visibility for the content broadcast. On Facebook and X, there was an increase in the number of followers and a certain level of engagement observed in terms of likes, comments, shares on uploaded content. Messages were posted once every two days in French and English in the form of videos and educational visuals. More specifically on Facebook ((Elections Cameroon – ELECAM, Elecam Fact-Checking Page), the institution had 25,460 followers before the campaign and after the campaign, it registered 33 new followers, taking the total to 25,493. Still on the platform, they registered 31, 756 instant story views, 198 likes, 97 comments and 50 shares. On X (formerly Twitter: @elecamofficiel), 11 new followers were recorded, 3,201 instant story views, 27 likes, five comments and 16 shares. For its WhatsApp channel (ELECAM NEWS), and WhatsApp Groups (Elecam and media), they had 176 new followers, 29 likes and 285 accounts reached. On actions carried out, there was an official communication from the Director General of Elections during the launch of the campaign, publication of 41 articles by the 10 online media outlets selected for the occasion and sharing of content (videos, visuals, articles) via different networks and WhatsApp groups.
