2026 International Cycling Tour of Cameroon: Rodrigue Nounawé Reduces Gap

From one minute 27 seconds, the cyclist from SNH Vélo Club of Cameroon is now 44 seconds behind the yellow jersey after the eighth lap yesterday from Douala to Kribi, which was however disrupted for several minutes due to traffic before Edea.

Cameroon has not yet reclaimed the yellow jersey but the good news after yesterday’s lap from Douala to Kribi is that Rodrigue Kuéré Nounawé of SNH Vélo Club, second in the general classification, has reduced the gap that separates him from the yellow jersey, Charrois Leo of Team Embrace the World of Germany. From one minute 27 seconds, the Cameroonian cyclist is now 44 seconds behind. This may be due to the slight crash the yellow jersey encountered during the race. As for the stage, the highly competitive lap on June 11, 2026, was won by Assal Mohamed-Nadjib of Algeria, his fourth stage victory in this competition. He completed the stage in four hours, two minutes and 57 seconds. Instead of 158.6 km, 154.6 km was counted because four km of the lap was neutralised due to traffic encountered before Edea. In effect, after a successful fictive kick-off at the esplanade of the Douala III Council, the riders set off for the longest lap of the competition, knowing it would be decisive. All went well until they neared Edea, where the caravan met heavy traffic that neutralised the race for about 25 minutes. After organisers cleared the road, the riders regrouped and the race was relaunched at Missole II. Several breakaways and attacks were launched in this lap, with riders struggling not only to reduce the gap to the yellow jersey but also to take the stage victory....
