Peace Building: House Of Trust For Peace Launched

A workshop to flag off the initiative birthed during the historic visit of Pope Leo XIV to Cameroon has ended in Buea.
Some accredited peace practitioners drawn from the North West, South West and other parts of Cameroon have been drilled on new methodologies of ensuring peace initiatives leave lasting impact in the communities. This was during an inaugural workshop to launch the House of Trust for Peace in Buea June 24-26, 2026. The workshop provided the opportunity for the inaugural cohort of Practitioners of Trust for Peace in Cameroon to be trained on the new model which is anchored on the slogan “building peace by acting on the roots of distrust not its symptoms.” Initiated by the Catholic University of Central Africa (UCAC) during the visit of the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV to the institution on April 17, 2026, House of Trust for Peace, is a Cameroon-anchored peacebuilding initiative designed to equip a cross regional network of accredited practitioners with data-driven methodologies to transform the root causes of conflict, distrust and violence. The first cohort includes national civil society networks, academic institutions as it bridges international peacebuilding methodologies with local grassroots execution to foster lasting field impact.
