Elections Cameroon: Specialised Campaigns In View

The Electoral Board meets in session on July 1, 2026 after which more strategies will be revealed.

Exactly two months left for the electoral registers to be closed. This is in accordance with Section 74 of the Electoral Code which states that the annual revision of electoral registers shall commence on January 1 and end on August 31 of each year. As the elections management body, Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) is putting in place strategies to ensure maximum registration of those of voting age and who meet the eligibility criteria. Amongst the strategies are specialised campaigns that will be carried out in communities, targeting mostly natives of the locality. Details of the specialised campaigns are expected to be made public after the ordinary session of the Electoral Board that holds on July 1, 2026 in accordance to Section 18 of the aforementioned Code. Members of the Board will also validate other strategies geared at improving voter registration in the remaining two months. Meantime, there are other classical measures being implemented by the elections management body. For example, the digital campaign which is ongoing. The main objective is to inform, raise awareness, and educate internet users on all operations related to the annual revision of the electoral lists. Through the institution’s website (www.elecam.cm), Facebook (Elections Cameroon – ELECAM, Elecam Fact-Checking Page), X (formerly Twitter: @elecamofficiel), WhatsApp channel (ELECAM NEWS), and WhatsApp Groups (Elecam and media), users are sensitised and provided adequate information on electoral operations.
