Japan International Cooperation Agency: Celebrating 20 Years Of Impact

Ministers Alamine Ousmane Mey and Louis Paul Motaze granted audiences to the JICA delegation on August 3, 2026, as they celebrate two decades of cooperation with Cameroon.

O ver the last 20 years, the Ja- pan International Coopera- tion Agency (JICA), Cameroon Office and the Japan Overseas Co- operation Volunteers (JOCV) have been a salient development partner to Cameroon’s economy. The apprai- sal of these bilateral contributions within the last two decades was the centre of discussion for the au- diences granted by the Minister of Finance, Louis Paul Motaze; and that of Economy, Planning and Re- gional Development, Alamine Ous- mane Mey, on August 3, 2026, in Yaounde. The Japan-Cameroon co- operation, the Senior Vice President of JICA, Ando Naoki explained, has for several decades recorded remar- kable success including the construction of 120 primary schools, over 400 boreholes that provide clean water to local commu- nities nationwide, among others.
