African Women Day: Women Stage “Waka Waka” For Peace

W omen from all walks of life in the Littoral region joined members of the National Women’s Convention for Peace Littoral to celebrate the 64th edition of African Wo­ men’s Day on July 31. They arrived as early as 6 a.m. at Bonanjo Government Boule­ vard to take part in the “Waka Waka” for Peace March an ini­ tiative by the convention to promote peace within commu­ nities. The march took the wo­ men through Bonanjo to advo­ cate for social justice, commu­ nity healing, and social cohe­ sion. Speaking during the march in Douala, the Littoral regional coordinator of the National Wo­ men’s Convention for Peace, Madam Mbocksi Jacqueline, said the initiative aimed to ensure women are involved in all pea­ cebuilding processes.
