Buea: Military Provides Free Health Services

Complicated cases that couldn’t be handled on the scene were referred to Douala for treatment at zero cost.
A free health campaign is ongoing at the Integrated Health Centre Bokwaongo in Buea Subdivision. It is piloted by the 10th Military Health Sector. Starting from August I7, 2026, it will run until August 22, 2026. It was launched on August 18, 2026, by Brigadier General Ngolo Ngomba Tobi, Commander of 2nd Joint Military Region which oversees Littoral and the South West Regions. The mobilized medical team comprised of 15 Medical Doctors, 20 nurses, nutritionists and pharmacists, with several specialties like ophthalmology, gynaecology and obstetrics, general medicine, dentistry, nutrition and other medical and surgical disciplines. Two days into the cam- paign, several cases requiring urgent medical attention have been identified which included pre-eclampsia, high blood pressure and diabetes. Colonel Dr. Noumedem Nguefack Blan- chard, Commander of the 10th Military Health Sector, said early diagnosis has made it possible to promptly coun- sel and refer patients for appropriate management. The campaign also pro- vides free medical consultations and screening, antenatal care, pregnancy ultrasound examinations, women’s health services, pediatric care, oph- thalmology and dental consultations, as well as selected minor surgical pro- cedures. “The initiative is carried out within the framework of civil-military cooperation, aims to bring quality healthcare closer to vulnerable com- munities while promoting prevention, early diagnosis, treatment and health education,” he stated.
