School Management: Principals Drive Academic Excellence

N ewly appointed Principal of Government Technical Bilin­ gual High School Nlongkak, Yaounde, Kiam Janvier Basile, is brin­ ging years of school supervision ex­ perience to the management of the institution, with discipline, effective teaching and daily supervision at the heart of his approach. Appointed in the latest decision signed by the Minister of Secondary Education, Kiam Janvier Basile previously served as a National Inspector for about 10 years, a Regional Inspector for another 10 years and a Pedagogic Adviser for three years. He says the experience has given him a clear understanding of how schools ope­ rate and the challenges they face. “My motivation is to put all the know­ ledge and experience I have acquired over the years into practice in the field,” he says. Kiam also added that, being his first time as a principal of a school, he will have to tighten his belt and be prepared to give his best to his students and the institution under him. Another principal, Sebastian Tawa of St Joseph Comprehensive College, Afanayo, Yaounde III Subdivision, is equally prioritising discipline, teacher development and student welfare. The Principal said the school recorded 100 per cent at the General Certifi­ cate of Education (GCE) Ordinary Le­ vel, 98 per cent at the Advanced Level and 100 per cent at the Ad­ vanced Level Commercial in the 2026 examinations. This result shows a good aspect of the school to effec­ tively convince parents that the ins­ titution is a great choice for their kids.
