Bamenda: Internet Reconnects Families

It is once more, browsing, browsing and browsing in many homes.

From the look of things, the business of android phones has welcomed a new lease of life since April 20, 2017 when the Head of State instructed the re-instatement of internet in the North West and South West Regions. The inspiration has been inhabitants who want to reconnect with family members since the blackout that did not help matters without internet for some three months.
In effect, the rush for android phones is visible in the city with parents and children in dire need of the communication facility. To say the least, browsing preoccupies many people in Bamenda’s homes. Some parents and their children spend long hours connecting family members and friends. At homes and on the streets, their eyes are fixed on their android phones and their heads bent over the facility. In times like this when schools of the English sub system of education are not effective in the region, children spend time playing football, on farms or browsing. In short, browsing has become a favourite pass time in many homes since the reconnection of the internet.
The renewed enthusiasm started immediately President Paul Biya’s instructions were delivered on April 20, 2017. Youths along the streets of Bamenda could be heard saluting the measure. It became effective, a few hours later and the message on virtually every lip was “Thank God, the Internet is back, we will browse, browse and browse.”
