Public Independent Conciliator SW: Staff Upgrade Skills On Forensic Investigations

P ersonnel serving at the Office of the Public Independent Conci­ liator (OPIC) for the South West Region are now abreast with inte­ grating technology into the ombuds­ man’s work. They took lessons on understanding forensic investigation methods and, proper evidence hand­ ling and sound digital case manage­ ment. The in-house training on Sep­ tember 10, 2026, is a fallout of a se­ minar in Windhoek, Namibia which assembled the world’s Ombudsman family from July 21-24, 2026. Key presentations focused on methodo­ logical approach to investigation, and core principles of forensic investigation and digital case handling. Also, they looked at practical document exami­ nation and digital evidence in om­ budsman’s work. Again, there were lessons on strengthening human rights protection through effective mediation law, human rights law and the activities of the Office of the Pu­ blic Independent Conciliator which were examined by legal experts, Dr. Tambe Cyrille Bua and Atemnkeng Michael.
