“AI Facilitates Teaching”

How is Artificial Intelligence currently being used in Cameroon’s secondary schools? We are using AI in schools in various ways. Number one is the intelligent tutor. In 2025, the Minister of Secondary Education, Prof. Nalova Lyonga com­ missioned the development of an AI tutor that can assist teachers and offer students personalized learning. The intelligent tutor is there to assist the teacher in following the students. It is able to answer questions that students ask, set tests and exams, and give them feedback if they have understood the lessons correctly. This intelligent tutor is found on the ministry’s distance learning platform.(distance-learning.minesec.gov.cm). Se­ condly, we use AI to create simulations, which are virtual environments that give students the chance to experience what they are learning. They are not just imagining it. With AI, they can actually interact and understand exactly what they are learning. AI is also being taught to stu­ dents in schools as part of their courses. Computer lessons include what AI is and what students can do with it. We also have platforms that help tea­ chers create digital lesson materials. (lessons.schoolsfaqs.net). What specific benefits can AI bring to teaching and learning in secondary schools? The first thing is that AI really helps to reduce a lot of manual work. Teachers do so many things manually: making notes, finding resources, setting exams and tests.
