Sustainable Environmental Development: Actors Table Climate Finance Importance

D evelopment and Envi­ ronmental actors met in Yaounde last September 17, 2026 to chart ways in which the Government of Ca­ meroon can explore the One UN Approach by to boost sus­ tainable Environmental deve­ lopment particularly in the blue and the green economies. The thematic café that united several organs of the United Nations Organization (UNO) in Cameroon and those of the Ministry of the Environment, Nature Protection and Sustai­ nable Development (MINEP­ DED), was convened under the theme “exploring new path­ ways for collaboration between MINEPDED and the United Na­ tions system through the One UN Approach.” Issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and land degradation are challenges that no single ins­ titution can solve alone. Rea­ sons why the technical and financial partnership between the duo is pivotal. Edifying the forum on the re­ levance of the collaboration to strengthen sustainable de­ velopment, MINEPDED’s boss Hele Pierre underscored that, the environmental agenda is more than just an imperative, it is in fact a development op­ portunity to mobilise and dis­ burse funds to empower drives particularly in climate resi­ lience, green and blue eco­ nomy, clean energy, and cli­ mate finance. He added that, the initiative is also a pivotal moment marked by the imple­ mentation of the future 2027- 2031 cooperation framework amongst all stakeholders com­ mitted to a sustainable ecolo­ gical transition in Cameroon.
