21st Motorized Infantry Brigade: Colonel Aziz Yacouba Takes Command

T he 21st Motorized Infantry Brigade which oversees mi­ litary operations in the South West Region is now under the command of Colonel Aziz Njoya Yacouba. He was handed the baton of command last Friday, September 18, 2026 in Buea, during a ceremony chaired by the commander of the 2nd Joint Military Region, Brigadier Gene­ ral Ngolo Ngomba Tobie Gabriel. Co­ lonel Aziz Yacouba took over from Co­ lonel Enye’e Meka who is now commander of the 5th Military Sec­ tor. Brigadier General Ngolo Ngomba tas­ ked Colonel Aziz Yacouba to protect the population and their property in the region which is facing social, po­ litical and security challenges. A po­ pulation that has been trapped in acts of terrorism against them by se­ paratists for the past decade. Within the military family, Colonel Aziz Ya­ couba is charged to boost the morale of his troops so that they can perform well in operations. He equally has to ensure that all military equipment are in good state and available for use by his elements. Brigadier General Ngolo Ngomba firmly instructed all military personnel in the South West Region to respect instructions from their new commander for the interest of service. Colonel Aziz Njoya Yacouba was ap­ pointed by a Presidential Decree No 2026/264 of August 3, 2026. His re­ sume shows a skilled soldier widely studied.
