Indomitable Lions: Preparing To Succeed!

Cameroon’s national football team, the Indomitable Lions, are back to the drawing board with plenty of activity in the coming weeks. After their successful Gabon expedition where they bagged, for the fifth time, the coveted Africa Nations Cup trophy and the euphoria thereafter, it is now time to open another page. The stakes and challenges at hand warrant seriousness from all the actors notably the players, technical bench and administrative organs of the team.
The month of June is pregnant with a lot of activities for the team. On June 10, they will begin qualifiers for the 2019 Africa Nations Cup to be hosted by Cameroon. Although their hosting right qualifies the team automatically for the tourney, sailing through the qualifiers undistracted would be a morale booster. The June 10 game against Morocco in Yaounde and the international friendly announced against Colombia will equally be a golden opportunity to sharpen the claws of the Lions ahead of the upcoming Confederations Cup in Russia.
As Africa’s flagbearer, the Indomitable Lions would need to go beyond mere participation.  Given that the Confederations Cup is for champions, in fact for men and not simply boys who can kick the round object, the Lions’ trainer would need to build a solid team of valuable men to ably robe shoulders with competitors from other continents. After their predecessors excellently participated in the same competition in 2003 in France, losing honourably at the final to the host, the current generation of the Indomitable Lions will need to prove to the world that the fighting spirit is a trade mark of the team and not just of a group of players.
