Cameroon Commemorates 45th World Environment Day

Media sensitization campaigns, inter-club competitions, round table conference, amongst others marked weeklong activities gearing to the day on June 5

 

Cameroon has joined the international community to commemorate the 45th edition of the World Environment Day. This year’s commemoration was staged under the theme: “Connecting People to Nature,” a theme which calls on individuals to get outdoor into nature, to appreciate its beauty and importance as well as to take forward the call to protect the earth. In Yaounde, the commemoration of the Day was chaired by the Minister of Environment, Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development, Hele Pierre, in the presence of the Minister Delegate in the  Ministry of Environment, Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development, Dr. Nana Aboubakar Djalloh and the UN Systems Coordinator in Cameroon.
Speaking during the commemoration on Monday June 5, 2017, at the Yaounde Conference Centre, Minister Hele said the Day provides the avenue for people to live in synergy with their environment and maximize opportunities offered by the environment.
