National Development:Government, Diaspora Take Commitments

 Prime Minister Philemon Yang on behalf of President Paul Biya chaired the opening ceremony of the Forum for the Diaspora in Yaounde on June 28, 2017.

Cameroon’s development is expected to witness a great leap forward in the near future following the commitments taken by government and members of the Cameroonian Diaspora to synergise and form partnerships in a conducive environment for the attainment of the country’s development vision.
The commitments were taken during the opening ceremony of the first edition of the Forum for the Diaspora at the Yaounde Conference Centre on the theme, “Cameroon and its Diaspora: Working together   for the development of the nation.” Prime Minister Philemon Yang who chaired the event of June 28, 2017 as representative of President Paul Biya,  told members of the Diaspora, “ Your contribution is necessary at all levels,” and added that they were Diaspora of progress and as such needed to join their efforts with Cameroonians who have stayed back home  to foster the country’s development. He cited a series of institutional and legal instruments government has put in place to enable the Diaspora come back and contribute in the development of the nation and advised, “discrediting your land, your country could in many ways discredit you.”
Members of the Diaspora through one of their spokespersons, Grace Elone from the United Kingdom urged Prime Minister Yang to transmit their message to President Paul Biya.
