Civil Aviation: Cameroon Undergoes Audit In November

The West and Central African Regional Director of the International Civil Aviation Organisation, Romain Ekoto was received by the Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute on May 29, 2026.

Within the context of ensuring that Cameroon continues to respect and improve its international civil aviation standards, the country will be audited on safety norms in November this year. This information was made public by the West and Central African Regional Director of the International Civil Aviation Organisation, Romain Ekoto who was received by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute on May 29, 2026. Speaking to the press after the about half an hour audience, the Regional Director said the audit is an assessment of the level of compliance of the civil aviation system in Cameroon with international standards regarding civil aviation safety. In his explanation, the ultimate goal is to have no accidents in the civil aviation sector and in the different areas concerning personnel, aerodromes, and air navigation services. He said the audit essentially evaluates the level of compliance of Cameroon's aviation system with international requirements. The civil aviation expert added that his working mission to Cameroon thus had as aim, sensitising high-level authorities of the country about upcoming major requirements. “Cameroon will be undergoing a safety audit next November and it is important to mobilise all relevant stakeholders including high-level officials on what is expected from the country to perform well during this audit.
