Constitutional Council: Clement Atangana Dies At 85

President of the judicial institution till his death, he gave up the ghost in the morning hours of October 4, 2026 at the American hospital in Paris, France.
H is office has already been sealed. A sad atmosphere both at the office and at the residence of Clement Atangana, President of the Consti tutional Council, who was on his se cond mandate at the judicial institu tion. Since its creation in 2018, he was amongst the pioneer members and has since been at the helm, chairing public audiences and other ceremonies within his sphere of com petence. When the news of his death was confirmed, the State Counsel at the Legal Department of Yaounde, Centre Administratif (neighbourhood), Court of First Instance, Ntyam Nkoto Yves Florent, showed up at the office pre mises of the deceased at the Yaounde Conference Centre. Senior officials of the institution like the Secretary General and the Registrar- in-Chief were on seat, who held talks before the sealing process began. Before the process, he loudly asks “Is the office properly locked,” and when the response was given I the affirmative, he orders for the hammer to be hit on the nail. At the first hit, the Secretary of the deceased breaks down in tears, definitely not still in acceptance that Clement Atangana has journeyed to the land of no re turn. The office is then properly sea led with a large crossing seal-up tape (in the letter X) on the door. The wordings on the tape indicates it is sealed with no access. Then, there is also a yellow paper affixed on the door which explains the pro cess being carried out on the door, including the date. As explained by the State Counsel, it is a precautionary measure which prevents any entry into the office of the late President of the Consti tutional Council. He adds that the seal will be removed when the family and the Constitutional Council are ready to remove the personal or any other belongings of the deceased. Given that the sealing took place under his supervision and in the pre sence of security officers and some staff of the Constitutional Council, the office can only be again unlocked under his supervision. Meantime, the Constitutional Council will ensure security at the door to prevent or avoid any intrusion. At the residence of the departed Statesman was an atmosphere of grief. ...
