The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, DPRK (North Korea) leader, Kim Jong-un, says he wants to "vigorously advance" closer ties with South Korea, the BBC on March 6, 2018 cited State media as reporting.
The comment followed a rare visit to Pyongyang by senior South Korean officials who had dinner with Kim Jong-un. They were the first officials from Seoul to meet Kim since he came to power in 2011, replacing his late father, Kim Il-sung.
The trip was part of renewed rapprochement efforts after the recent Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The last time envoys from South Korea visited Pyongyang was in 2007.
