Edea (Sanaga Maritime) - The newly appointed director of the Edea Annex Regional Hospital was installed into office on Wednesday February 28 by the Governor of the Littoral Region in a solemn ceremony at the courtyard of the hospital.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Governor of the Littoral, Dieudonné Ivaha Diboua said the hospital is situated at a strategic location at the junction of Yaoundé-Douala-Kribi highways and that with the coming into effect of the Kribi seaport, there is going to be increased traffic on these roads and consequently more road accidents.
He therefore called on Dr Tsiagadigui to take good care of accident victims and the trauma they face later. He however stressed that the health facility was intended to provide health care to all classes of society, a task he said he was sure the new director meet up with given the fact that he is a devoted and rigorous doctor who has concerns for the poor.
In his welcome address, the Government Delegate of the Edea City council, Dieudonné Nzoke, who also happens to be the chairman of the board of directors of the hospital, said the hospital takes care of some 12,000 inhabitants spread over six health districts and the medical staff comprises 18 specialists and 15 general practitioners. He said the hospital has a standby generator to make up for power failure, a well for constant water provision and most of all a scanner.
Dr Tsiagadigui was born in 1962 and is of the 14 batch of the faculty of medicine in the then university of Yaoundé. Tsiagadigui, who is an orthopaedist and trauma specialist, started work in 1989 in Yaounde. He has done several courses in the field notably in Lyon and Brussels. He has worked at the Laquintinie hospital in Douala and taught at the universities of Douala and Yaounde.
Prior to his appointment, he was the director of the Kribi district hospital where he took care of several victims of the Boko Haram mayhem. He is a member of several professional associations notably secretary general of the African association of orthopaedists. He is married and a father of three.
The installation ceremony was attended by traditional rulers, CPDM party supporters, a delegation from Kribi as well as staff of the hospital. Besides the speeches, there was musical performance of some local artistes.
