Peace, Institutional Stability: Youths At Heart of Activities

Youths within political parties and numerous associations are involved in the promotion of peace, national unity and stability of State institutions.

The Head of State, President Paul Biya during his Youth Day message to his young compatriots on February 10, 2022 outlined a series of facilities the government has put in place and diverse ways in which it is working to ensure the socio-economic and political integration of youths.
He talked of numerous opportunities available for youths in all fields. For the youths to take advantage of the opportunities, President Paul Biya declared, “I further urge you to strive to preserve our invaluable achievements of peace, national unity and institutional stability, for it is thanks to them that we have made the remarkable progress of which we are so proud.”   He called on the youths to reclaim social and republican values.  The values, he highlighted include patriotism, civic mindedness, respect for public property and the general interest, culture of probity, preservation of customs and traditions, family mindedness and respect for the elderly.
President Biya’s call on youths to preserve peace, national unity and institutional stability comes at the time many youths through political parties and associations are struggling to uphold them.  This is unfortunately in a context where social and republican values are fading in the mindset of many youths.  Many youths have harkened to calls of division, destruction, destabilisation and desecration of State symbols.  The English-speaking North West and South West Regions serve as the epitome of destabilisation where for close to five years, some youths have been manipulated and they have taken up arms against humanity and  the nation in the name of separatist fighters. They have been striving to materialise the enterprise of some people both at home and abroad who are bent on separating Cameroon.
