Sports Federations : Unending Electoral Wrangling!

Several months after the close of the electoral process, some of these entities are still in dilemma.


Since the launch of the electoral process for the renewal of executive organs of sports federations last year, some of the entities are still lagging behind. A majority are on good footing; having successfully completed their electoral processes while a few are still wallowing in turmoil. Two scenarios are glaring. Those who have been unable to organise the elections within the time frame and those who have effectively organised the elections and contestations continue.
As for those who have effectively organised their elections and the electoral wrangling is still riding on, the cases of the Basketball, Golf and Tennis Federations are on the spotlight. The Basketball and Tennis federations got their electoral processes annulled by the Chamber of Arbitration and Conciliation of the National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSC) but since then, activities within the federations are still going on. As for Golf, a General Assembly was recently organised which resulted to the creation of a transitional management committee to head the affairs of the federation. But the “elected bureau” is highly contesting this move.
