African Athletics Championships : Cameroon Assures Hosting Preparedness

This was during an audience Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute granted the President of the Confederation of African Athletics, Col. Kalkaba Malboum yesterday April 15, 2024.

Cameroon will from June 21-26, 2024 host the African Athletics Championships in Douala, Littoral Region. The continental competition brings together about 800 athletes from 54 member countries. Prior to the competition, the President of the Confederation of African Athletics, Col. Kalkaba Malboum was at the Star Building, where he was received by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute and assurances made on Cameroon’s readiness to host. Discussions at the working session centred on making sure every athlete participates in the competition, under the right and acceptable conditions. 
In his statement to the press after the audience, Col. Kalkaba said they came to meet Cameroonian authorities to have the assurances that everything will take place accordingly. “We started this morning with our first session of the Executive Board of the Confederation of African Athletics here in Yaounde because Cameroon is a flagship country for us. This year as one of the flagship events, the African Athletics Championships will be holding less than a month to the Paris Olympic Games, a competition that will bring together nearly 800 athletes from 54 African countries. This will be held in Douala. Two months before the start of this championship, it is normal for us to come and meet the Cameroonian authorities to have the assurance that everything will take place in better conditions,” Col. Kalkaba Malboum stated.
