2022 World Cup : Teams To Know Adversaries Today

Draws for the group stage of the 2022 World Cup will take place today April 1 at 5:00 p.m. in Doha, Qatar. The draws of the planetary tournament will determine the composition of the eight groups of four teams that will make up the first phase of the World Cup in Qatar. After today’s exercise, stakeholders of the participating teams would not only know their opponents but would also get into serious mental and psychological business, followed by the putting in place a working plan that would culminate with selection of players and strategizing.
The teams are divided into four pots based on the FIFA rankings published yesterday. Pot 1 comprises Qatar as hosts and the seven highest-ranked qualified teams. Pot 2 has the next eight highest-ranked qualified teams, Pot 3 the eight highest-qualified after that, and Pot 4 the five best-ranked teams after that and placeholders representing the two winners of the intercontinental play-offs and the remaining European play-off winner. According to the rules, teams from the same confederations cannot be pitted against each other except the European continent that is presenting up to 13 teams. Five of the eight groups will have two European teams with Cameroon likely to be drawn in a group with the European play off winner alongside one World Cup champion and a regular participant at the tournament. The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon who are old candidates of the tournament are in pot 4 with Canada, Ecuador, Saudi Arabia, Ghana, UEFA playoff winner, Peru-AFC third place playoff winner and Costa Rica-New Zealand playoff winner.
