Academic Year 2022/2023 : Government Is Ready

Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute on August 25, 2022 presided at a cabinet meeting dedicated to envisaging perspectives for the upcoming school year.

From assurances given by Ministers in charge of the education sector in Cameroon during the cabinet meeting of August 25, 2022, the government is ready for the start and success of the upcoming 2022/2023 academic year. The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute presided at the cabinet meeting essentially dedicated to the evaluation of the conduct of the previous school year and the perspectives for the upcoming 2022/2023 academic year.

Opening the meeting, the Prime Minister recalled the recent events characterised by various shocks in the education sector. On the other hand, he said the organisation of end-of-course examinations and the publication of results were followed up with keen attention in the Basic and Secondary Education subsectors. The Prime Minister stated that various measures were taken by competent authorities to enable the private education sector comply with the legislation in force. In the higher education subsector, he said, measures were taken to ensure the operationalisation of the three new State universities the Head of State, President Paul Biya created in January 2022. The Prime Minister recalled that in the socio-political spheres, attention is paid on putting in place conditions for the optimal start of the school year. He said the publication of the calendar of the upcoming school year was in that direction.

Talking to the press after the three-hour cabinet meeting, the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Jacques Fame Ndongo said the higher education subsector was ready. He said the 11 Rectors and Vice Chancellors are taking good and consistent initiatives to ensure the functioning of the three new State Universities in terms of infrastructure, teachers and other issues. “We are ready. All is ok and classes will effectively start in October 2022.”
