AFCON 2023 : Kick-off On January 13, 2024

Information made public by CAF also confirms that the four-week tournament in Côte d’Ivoire will end on February 11, 2024.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the kick-off and final dates of the 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) billed for Côte d’Ivoire. According to a recent information on the official website of the Confederation, the highest football showpiece on the continent which is at its 34th edition, will begin on January 13, 2024 at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan. The four-week competition will run till February 11, 2024 when the final will be played.
With the competition drawing near, the qualifiers are narrowing down with every African nation wanting to be part of the rendez-vous. Six countries minus host Côte d’Ivoire, have already secured their places in the competition. They are Algeria, Morocco, South Africa, Tunisia, Burkina Faso and African champions Senegal; who picked their spots during the just-ended third and fourth day qualifiers.  
One of Africa’s powerhouses, Cameroon are yet to pick their spot in the competition after Namibia gave them hard moments on days 3 and 4 of the qualifiers. The 1-1 draw in Yaounde and 1-2 defeat in South Africa meant that the Lions will have to wait for their last qualifying game against Burundi in September 2023 to determine their fate.
