A five-day National Festival of Heritage Music and Dance (FESMUDAP), 2017 organised by the Ministry of Arts and Culture will be officially open in Yaounde today.
Visiting the Esplanade of the National Museum in Yaounde, one will find artists trooping in from the ten regions of Cameroon to join their counterparts through dance and music to show- case the values of togetherness. A time of strong fellowship and a right moment for assessing the progress made in the process of strengthening ties among the people of the same country, promoting cultural and linguistic diversity as wealth, affirming patriotism and above all adhering to the same vision. It is against this back drop that National Festival of Heritage Music and Dance is organised by the Ministry of Arts and Culture and will run from August 1 to 6, 2017.
CT visited the Nation Museum and toured the installation of the exhibition stands by the various artists and fashion designers, different types of musical instruments such as the xenophones, skin and metallic instruments could be seen brought by the various musicians and dancers who came to demonstrate their spirit of national unity and solidarity.
The Sub-Director of Visual and Applied Arts at the Ministry of Arts and Culture, Hilarion Wirdzeka Faison, said the importance of the festival is to bring together Cameroonians to showcase Cameroon’s cultural wealth and also it is an opportunity for them to show to the world what the country has...
