Communist Party Of China: Over 2,000 Delegates Begin 19th National Congress

New members of the 19^th CPC Central Committee and 19^th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection will be elected.

The 19^th national congress of the Communist Party of China, CPC, opens in the Great Hall of the People in the Chinese capital, Beijing, at 9 am local time on October 18, 2017 with the participation of 2,280 delegates. LiuYunshan was appointed General Secretary of the 19^th CPC national congress, which is being covered by 3,068 Chinese and foreign.

Speaking at a press conference on October 17, 2017 in Beijing, the Spokesman of the 19^th CPC party national congress, Tuo Zhen, said the gathering will uphold the banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics. The agenda of the congress concerns discussing and adopting the CPC’s 18^th Central Committee report, work report of the 18^th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, amendments to the CPC constitution, election of 19^th CPC Central Committee and 19^th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection members. Meanwhile, preparations for the 19^th CPC national congress began way back in October 2016 with focus on four areas.

There was drafting of the political report for submission to 19^th national congress. Some 59 organisations were commissioned to conduct research on 21 key topics, resulting in 80 reports.
