South West: Two Police Officers Murdered

Below is a press release from the Ministry of Communication.

“The Minister of Communication wishes to inform the public that during the night of 29 to 30 November, 2017, at around 10.30 p.m., assailants armed with hunting rifles attacked the National Security Border Post of Otu, in the Eyumojock Sub-division, under Manyu Division of the South-west Region.

Terrorists stormed the security border post just when the police officers on duty were busy checking a bag of barks belonging to two individuals from the neighboring country.

During the attack, Senior Assistant Superintendents NGWA Kevin, the Acting Head of Post and NKWELLE Derrick HALLE, all on duty at the South-west Fifth Mobile Intervention Battalion Unit, and on assignment to support the National Security Border Post of Otu, were killed.

Second Grade Inspector of Police MOKAKE YANGANGE Martin on duty in the same police unit, and also on assignment to support the Border Post of Otu, was wounded, as well as Staff Sergeant ADAMA DIAM on duty at the 22nd Motorized Infantry Battalion of Mamfe. The two injured were rushed to the hospital for appropriate care.
